New RMHS campus with sports venues

Here's an artist's rendering of the layout of Rocky Mount High School's new campus on Bethlehem Road. (click on picture to enlarge)

For the first time ever, every sport will be played on campus. To give you a perspective of the location, Old Mill Rd. going southwest is in the bottom right corner, while Bethlehem Rd, headed northeast toward U.S. 301, is in the top right of the shot.

The 64-acre, $38 million facility, which will sport over 240,000 square feet of building space, is scheduled to be completed in July 2012 and the school will relocate there the following month.

The most asked question about the campus that I have received is will there be a new football stadium built there. You can see for yourself in the upper left corner!

Thanks, Charles, for creating this blog . . . it will fun following the developments. All I can say is that I'm glad I came along when I did . . . football and baseball at Municipal Stadium . . . there was just something special taking the walk to and from the high school on ballgame nights! I'm happy for the students in RMT, though. I'm sure the new facility is much needed.

From the standpoint of marching over to the stadium, I miss it too. But I wouldn't miss marching on that dirt infield!
