A scrimmage with Roanoke Rapids will be the first official event held at Rocky Mount High School's new football stadium.

The 2012 edition of the Gryphons, under new head coach Jason Battle, will entertain the Yellow Jackets, coached by former Northern Nash assistant Russell Weinstein, at Gryphon Stadium on Wednesday, Aug. 8 at 6 p.m.

The Gryphons will then hit the road the following Friday (Aug. 10) to participate in a jamboree at North Johnston High School in Kenly. Action there begins at 7 p.m.

The regular season will begin a week later (Aug. 17) when Rocky Mount hosts Bunn in the regular season opener - the first of three consecutive home games to open the 2012 campaign.
