Northern Nash's Ruffin selected to coach in East-West game in 2011

Northern Nash head boys basketball coach Rick Ruffin has been selected as an assistant coach for the East squad for the 2011 N.C. Coaches Association East-West All-Star Men's Basketball Game.

The game is set for July 18 at the Greensboro Colisuem.

Ruffin, a Rocky Mount High School ('80) and East Carolina University ('84) alum, had coaching stints at Wilson Fike and Southern Nash before landing at Northern. He is also the golf coach for the Knights.

Wallace-Rose Hill head boys basketball coach Steve Robinson will be the head coach of the East.

Ruffin is added to the list of many active Twin Counties coaches who have served in the East-West games.

Among those are Northern Nash's Grover Battle (women's basketball/asst. football), SouthWest Edgecombe's Raymond Cobb (football) and Sandra Langley (women's basketball), Southern Nash's Brian Foster (football), Tarboro's Jamie Willoughby (women's basketball) and Rocky Mount's Mike Gainey (men's basketball) and Pam Gainey (women's basketball).
