Virgil has signed with the Bills

According to Roanoke.com, three Virginia Tech players not selected in last week's NFL Draft have signed free-agent deals with NFL clubs, including former Rocky Mount standout Stephan Virgil.

Guard Sergio Render, whose draft stock waned in the past year, has signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bucs took two Tech players in the draft -- punter Brent Bowden in the sixth round and safety Cody Grimm in the seventh round on Saturday.

Defensive tackle Cordarrow ''Taco'' Thompson has signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers, who selected Tech defensive end-linebacker Jason Worilds in Friday's second round.

Stephan Virgil, who saw his draft stock go down because of a knee injury that caused him to miss several games and hurt his speed, has signed with the Buffalo Bills. Buffalo took Tech's Ed Wang in Saturday's fifth round of the draft.
