For the fourth straight year, Rocky Mount has won the Wells Fargo Conference Cup for the Big East Conference.
The Cup is awarded to the school that achieves overall excellence in varsity sports - based on a point system that rewards each school for its final standings in each sport.
Over the past four years, Gryphon sports teams have won outright or tied for 27 Big East Conference championships. On the strength of winning three conference titles in the spring season (women's soccer, men's track and field, women's track and field), Rocky Mount piled up 176.5 points for the year to retain the Cup.
Nash Central was in third place after the winter season, but it moved up to second at 171.5 points thanks to high finishes in softball, baseball and men's track and field.
Wilson Hunt, which was second going into the spring, dropped to third place at 161 points, despite winning the league in baseball.
