RALEIGH - Rocky Mount High School senior Brittany Battle is the 2011 recipient of the Angello-Chesson Scholarship. Battle is headed to N.C. A&T University next fall to major in Architectural Engineering.
Battle is the eighth recipient of the $1,000 award sponsored by donations to the Gryphon Fund, a foundation set up to honor the memory of late Gryphon athletes Joe Angello (RMHS '87) and Juan Chesson ('85).
Past winners have gone on to further their education at North Carolina State, North Carolina Central, UNC-Charlotte, East Carolina and North Carolina Wesleyan.
