FOUR OAKS - Rocky Mount's baseball team made the trip to South Johnston High School's Bruce Coats Field Saturday for its opening game in the Johnston County Easter Invitational.
But the Gryphons never took the field as a rash of thunderstorms and tornadoes made their way across the state and knocked out the final two games of the day - including the Gryphons' meeting with West Johnston.
Now the Gryphons will play two games Monday. Tournament officials have tried to accomodate Rocky Mount with a change in the schedule since it makes the longest trip of any of the event's participants.
