Bunn forfeits football win over Rocky Mount

Bunn High School officials notified Rocky Mount High Monday that an ineligible player participated in the Wildcats' 37-21 football win over the Gryphons on Aug. 17.
As a result, the Wildcats have forfeited the victory. With that result, Rocky Mount officially moved to 2-0 on the season, while Bunn, which lost to Wilson Fike 20-13 last Friday, dropped to 0-2 on the year.

"It's a sad situation, but we'll take it," said first-year Rocky Mount coach Jason Battle of seeing a loss turn into an official win."

Apparently, Bunn's illegal player failed to get in his nine official practices prior to participating in the season opener for both teams.

It's the first time Rocky Mount has been awarded a football victory due to a forfeiture since 1998 when D.H. Conley used an ineligible player in a 35-6 win over the Gryphons.
