New Bern Post 24 played dead once again Monday as the team has now forfeited the entire first round series of the Area I East American Legion Baseball Playoffs to Coleman-Pitt Post 58.After 11 days off, Post 58 (17-5) will finally get to hit the field Thursday when it hosts Wayne County in a second round best-of-three series. Game time is 7 p.m. at Nash Central High School.
Wayne County beat Edenton 14-7 Sunday evening in Mt. Olive, then topped Edenton at Historic Hicks Field 8-3 Monday night to take its opening series 2-0.
